Mejoramiento en la calidad de la atención en pacientes con Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2 atendidos en consulta externa, del Instituto Nacional de Endocrinología y Enfermedades Metabólicas en La Habana, Cuba

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this project is to favour patients with DM2, who attend the National Institute of Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases (MSNSIs) in Havana - Cuba, with optimal care and proper therapeutic adherence. The project was developed with the voluntary organization and appropriate engagement of patients with DM2, attending the institute (18 years old and above), and with the proper training of doctors and nurses who work with these patients (group work). The purpose was to come out with as much measures as posible, aimed at preventing patient´s health and improving the knowledge on the optimal therapeutic adherence, which involves nutritional, hygienic and exercising habits, according to the need of such patients. Our greatest satisfaction was that the main goal and the aim of our work was achieved, i.e., to properly educate patients in an organized way, with their voluntary cooperation. Also, training those professionals involved in the treatment of such patients, to getthe proper intervention in the continuous work, to improve the quality of life, emphasizing in the efficient and effective adherence of the patients to the program.
