In this paper we investigate the situation at the regional level of the manufacturing sector in the Ecuadorian economy and its influence on economic growth for the period 2001-2012, using as a theoretical basis the Kaldor's laws of economic growth, which focus on the manufacturing as a growth engine of a country. In Ecuador the manufacturing sector doesn´t present a significant development yet, however the provinces with the largest share in this sector have higher rates of economic growth. The results obtained through a dynamic panel model suggest that the Ecuadorian industry is positively correlated with the level of labor productivity and the growth of other sectors of the economy. They also show the existence of increasing returns to scale, at least when information is used regionally.es_ES
