Abstract

Abstract: Rice, in addition to being one of the most consumed cereals worldwide and the main food in the diet of Ecuadorian families, is the most representative agricultural activity in the Macará canton. Given the lack of information and studies based on this activity, the need to construct this research work was noted, which provides information on the operation and productive and commercial dynamics of the rice sector of this canton, located in the province of Loja. , in the border area with Peru. This study begins with a general vision of the international environment, analyzing production worldwide, as well as the interaction between exports and imports, in addition to an analysis of the rice sector in the national, provincial and local environment. Through field research, results are obtained from the canton related to the actual production of rice and its behavior, as a consumer good within the local trade; Likewise, information is obtained about the sector's access to the financial system and its future perspective as an economic activity.
