Abstract: The socio-environmental diagnosis of the human-feline conflict in the canton Nangaritza was carried out, the objective is to determine the magnitude and characteristics of the conflict, to build a baseline of the existing problem and to propose alternatives to monitor the conflict. Guided interviews were applied to affected individuals as unaffected. It was evidenced the existence of the conflict, increase of the population and therefore the destruction of the forest by the felling, cattle activities and the poor preparation of the population before a conflict between their agricultural productions and the wild animals, in addition exists the predisposition of the population To seek an alternative solution, the regulation of hunting, deforestation and the promotion of tourism as a sustainable activity. It is concluded that there is a conflict between the population and wildlife, the importance of nature conservation, openness to regulation and the bad criterion that exists of the environmental authority, being necessary that the environmental authority be responsible for seeking alternatives. Solution to this problem that damages humans and wildlife.
Description: Se realizó el diagnóstico socio-ambiental del conflicto entre humanos y felinos en el cantón Nangaritza, el objetivo es determinar la magnitud y características del conflicto, construir una línea base del problema existente y proponer alternativas para monitorear el conflicto. Se aplicaron entrevistas guiadas a personas afectadas como no afectadas. Se evidenció la existencia del conflicto, aumento de la población y por ende la destrucción del bosque por la tala, actividades ganaderas y la poca preparación de la población ante un conflicto entre sus producciones agropecuarias y los animales silvestres, además existe la predisposición de la población para buscar una alternativa de solución, la regulación de la cacería, la deforestación y la promoción del turismo como actividad sostenible. Se concluye que existe conflicto entre la población y fauna silvestre, la importancia que tiene la conservación de naturaleza, la apertura a la regulación y el mal criterio que existe de la autoridad ambiental, siendo necesario que la autoridad ambiental se haga responsable de buscar alternativas de solución a esta problemática que perjudica a humanos y a la fauna silvestre.
