Análisis de la pobreza en comunidades suburbanos del Cantón Portoviejo, periodo 2013.

Abstract

With the use of statistical instruments, the main objective of this research was to determine the poverty in the suburban population of the Canton of Portoviejo, considering variables of Unsatisfied Basic Needs: Housing, Basic services level of education, health and disease incidence, social, economic and environmental situation. For this purpose, two sectors-communities were selected: "Central Hill" and "Cimarron" where a sample of 395 surveys were distributed. For the execution of this research, percentage measures, indicators, Gini index and Lorenz curve were used. We conclude in this research the definition of poverty as a multidimensional measure with high percentages of Unsatisfied Basic Needs. Sanitary, social-economic and risk issues. With the calculation of the Gini Index and the construction of the Lorenz curve, a uniform distribution of poverty was found with minimal inequality among the population studied. It is recommended the strengthening of organizations for the management and construction of basic services works through GAD-Cantonal and the Central Government, procurement of Educational Units, care in health services and training for social enterprises.
