Abstract: The present work has been done, to know the cost of construction in reinforced concrete and steel structures, for which we have taken as a reference, a 10-storey type building and a two-storey house, for this it is first necessary to carry out the analysis And structural design with the two materials mentioned above. For the design of the reinforced concrete structure we have been based on the standards of code ACI 318-99. The design of the steel structure is possible by means of hot rolled sections, reinforced girders or cold bent profiles. The steel in our country is imported and there are no hot rolled profiles on the market such as those listed in the AISC code, the hot rolled profiles in the Ecuadorian market are profiles with a maximum height of 40cm with very great thicknesses in relation to their Exterior dimensions so that they are not economical, for this reason the structure of the 10-story building will be made using reinforced girders based on AISC standards. Cold folded profiles are a good choice for steel structures, but commercially they exist in small dimensions with thicknesses of up to 6mm so they can not be used in large buildings, but if they are very useful in small buildings, this Reason, the two-story house will be made with these profiles, based on the rules of the AISI code. The AISC and AISI codes govern the elastic design of structures with hot rolled sections or reinforced girders and with cold folded profiles respectively. The plastic design of structures with the RLFD code, is still not recommended to be used in the design of tall buildings because it is not well defined and does not apply to thin steel profiles because their width to thickness ratios are much larger than those Are required for the formation of plastic joints and before this would occur local buckling.
Description: La provincia de Zamora Chinchipe se encuentra constituido por una variedad de rocas entre [as mismas tenemos las rocas metamôruicas conformados P01 fihitas, pizarras, esquistos cerisiticos, esquistos micáceos, meta esquistos y cuarcitas. Estos tipos de rocas hacen que la composición geologica sea una de las caracterIsticas principales para que los suelos tengan ciertos minerales, los mismos que con el transcurnr del tiempo se convertirán en nutrientes para los suelos. La presente investigaciôn comprende la caracterizaciOn de la composiciôn del suelo de la zona de estudio "Sabanilla", ubicada en la provincia de Zamora Chinchipe. Para efectuar esta investigación se realizo la topografla del sector de estudio a escala 1:1000, la cual comprende dos terrenos, el primero con 3,12 has y el segundo con 0,41 has; luego con esta base topográfica se elaboró un mapa de pendientes y un mapa geolOgico, este ültimo se obtuvo después de realizar una geologIa local dentro y fuera del area de investigación, analizando los afloramientos y cantos rodados presentes en el area de estudio, esto con el propôsito de hacer una geologla a detalle.
