Abstract: The montane forests are a system of vegetation with high levels of biodiversity, although there are considered as one of ecosystems with most deforestation rates, they are priority for conservation. Lichens and bryophytes due to their physiological characteristics related with water and light are important organisms to evaluate environmental changes. However, the studies related with terrestrial diversity of lichens and bryophytes in montane forests are very scarce. We analyzed the diversity of lichens and bryophytes in different types of forests within the Pasochoa Wildlife Refuge. We registered frequency and cover of lichens and bryophytes in 96 grids distributed in the forest. We analyzed changes in species richness with Kruskal-Wallis ANOVA test. We analyzed species composition in the different forest with multidimensional non-metric scaling analysis (NMDS) and multivariate analysis (PERMANOVA). We registered 57 species of terrestrial lichens and bryophytes (8 lichens and 49 bryophytes). Richness and species composition not differ among two types of forest
