| Abstract: | The present research aims at exposing the economic growth of Ecuador through an exploratory analysis of the economic behavior of the cantons that make up the country during the period 2007-2009. The study establish the factors that influence growth or economic stagnation, finding better positioned cantons and lagging cantons, which leads to economic and social inequalities between them. According to the results, a pattern of behavior is determined where the cantons of Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca stand out with the highest economic growth during the mentioned period, experiencing higher economic, labor, productive, educational, technological, etc. levels, while cantons like La Joya de los Sachas, Orellana and Sucumbíos registered a good growth, but in the period studied as oil cities, due to the world crisis, they report descending growths |
| Description: | La presente investigación tiene como propósito exponer el crecimiento económico del Ecuador mediante un análisis exploratorio del comportamiento económico de los cantones que integran el país durante el período 2007 – 2009. En el estudio se establecen, los factores que influyen en el crecimiento o estancamiento económico, encontrando cantones mejor posicionados y cantones rezagados, lo que da lugar a desigualdades económicas y sociales, entre los mismos. Según los resultados se determina un patrón de comportamiento donde los cantones de Quito, Guayaquil y Cuenca, destacan con el mayor crecimiento económico durante el período mencionado, experimentando mayores niveles económicos, laborales, productivos, educativos, tecnológicos, etc., mientras que cantones como La Joya de los Sachas, Orellana y Sucumbíos registran un buen crecimiento pero que en el período estudiado por ser ciudades petroleras, a causa la crisis mundial, reportan crecimientos descendentes |
