Abstract: This work presents the Downlink implementation of the physical layer of Long Term Evolution Advanced (LTE-A) through Software Defined Radio (SDR) and software simulation of the Uplink (Up-Link). The Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) presents drawbacks in having a high fluctuation value in the envelope, a situation characterized in terms of the Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR). This characteristic of OFDM is reflected in the cellular communication system when it is implemented in the user equipment (UE) with possible reduction of range and coverage, increase in energy consumption and greater economic cost of the system. Considering this, LTE-A uses Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access (SC-FDMA) for the Uplink. This research makes a comparison between OFDM and SC-FDMA by contrasting the Bit Error Rate (BER) and PAPR. In addition, an OFDM system is implemented using SDR. Finally, a PAPR reduction technique is implemented. The results show the need to work on techniques to reduce OFDM peaks
