Abstract: The purpose of this paper is, to analyze the influence of economic, social and financial variables on agricultural soil diversification in the provinces of Ecuador by 2014, for which the Shannon index was constructed, the same one that determines how diverse an area of agricultural reproduction is. Once the index was constructed, the Pearson correlation coefficient and the covariance between the study variables were calculated to know the linear association of the variables. When the indices were applied, it was possible to conclude that variables such as the gross value added of agriculture, the average total income of the household and the economically active population, have a positive influence on the agricultural diversification; and total gross value added, education level, unemployment rate and credit volume, have a negative influence.
