Abstract: This exploratory - descriptive research aims at analyzing the social capital dimensions of micro - entrepreneurs in the canton of Olmedo generated by microcredit, considering it as a development tool by providing financing opportunities. In this sense, social capital is conceptualized as a resource that allows all collectivities to achieve their objectives, from Putnam's approach and theory, based on the dimensions of groups and networks, trust-solidarity, collective action-cooperation and empowerment political action. A census was applied to 173 microentrepreneurs registered in the SRI (Internal Revenue Service), with a cut to October 2016, from which information was obtained for the study. Finally, it is concluded that, there is the generation of social capital, that is, they are willing to associate to achieve greater benefits or opportunities. The level of trust and solidarity is concentrated mainly in their families and finally there is empowerment political action being responsible with their businesses, fulfilling their financial obligations.
