Abstract: The objective of this research is to understand the sexual behavior of college students, set the level of knowledge about the onset of sexual activity and the use of different methods of family planning; A descriptive, prospective, quantitative approach and cross-sectional study comprised 308 students of the four academic areas of the UTPL enrolled in the academic period october 2015 to february 2016. A survey with 10 items was applied and was obtained was performed the following results: 55.84% of all respondents have initiated sexual activity, 28.57% indicate having sexually active after 18 years, 26.62% had sex occasionally and their main reasons were love and curiosity with a 23.05% and 15.91% respectively, and 27.92% of the students claims to have used any family planning method during their first sexual intercourse.
Description: El objetivo de esta investigación es conocer el comportamiento sexual de estudiantes universitarios, establecer el nivel de conocimiento sobre el inicio de la actividad sexual y el uso de los diferentes métodos de planificación familiar; para ello se realizó un estudio descriptivo, prospectivo, con enfoque cuantitativo y corte transversal, conformado por 308 estudiantes de las cuatro áreas académicas de la UTPL matriculados en el periodo académico octubre 2015- febrero 2016. Se aplicó una encuesta con 10 ítems y se obtuvo los siguientes resultados: 55,84% del total de los encuestados han iniciado la actividad sexual, 28,57% indica haber iniciado su actividad sexual después de los 18 años, el 26,62% ha tenido relaciones sexuales ocasionalmente y sus principales motivos fueron el amor y la curiosidad con un 23,05% y 15,91% respectivamente, y el 27,92% de los estudiantes afirma no haber utilizado ningún método de planificación familiar durante sus primeras relaciones sexuales.
