Percepción y opinión de los ecuatorianos sobre la realidad socio ambiental nacional. Análisis de la cabecera cantonal de Paute, provincia del Azuay

Abstract

This study intends to know the perception of the inhabitants of the Paute city, province of Azuay with respect to environ mental issues, water, citizen participation, gender equity, quality of life and markets.

To achieve this goal a survey was applied to 380 inhabitants of this city, which were selected at random in the different public places of the city. Through a quantitative-descriptive analysis it was possible to know the perception of the inhabitants of the canton Paute with respect to these subjects.

A 72.4% of citizen shave ever heard about biodiversity; 31.8% have knowledge about the water law; 53.9% considerate very important to analyze the impact of the products on the environment. On the other hand, 43.9% of the in habitants feel somewhat satisfied with air quality; and 45.8% consider that there is some inequality.

It is concluded that citizen shave a broad know ledge on these issues, and have a sense of social and environ mental responsibility that re quires the support of local and national authorities to ensure the good living of this city.
