Abstract: The present investigation denominated “self-efficacy and social anxiety in teenagers” has as an objective identify the characteristics differentials of the self-efficacy and social anxiety in the adolescence, in a sample of 180 students in the ages between 14-17 years old in the city of Loja. The survey had a quantitative approach, descriptive scope, correlational and transversal. The instruments used were Scale of General Self-efficacy of Baessler and Schwarzer, and the Social Anxiety Scale for Adolescents (SAS-A). It has been used the software SPSS 24.0 The main results indicate that: 1) the highest percentage of teenagers present high level of self-efficacy and low level of social anxiety; 2) the self-efficacy and the social anxiety have a significantly negative relationship (inverse). And finally, 3) the relation between both variables depending on sex was negative both in teenager men and in teenager women. Suggesting that in adolescence the high level of self-efficacy relate with the low level of social anxiety and inverse.
Description: La presente investigación, denominada: “Autoeficacia y Ansiedad social en adolescentes” tiene como objetivo identificar las características diferenciales de la autoeficacia y ansiedad social en la adolescencia, en una muestra de 180 estudiantes entre edades de 14-17 años de edad en la ciudad de Loja. El estudio tuvo un enfoque cuantitativo, de alcance descriptivo, correlacional y transversal. Los instrumentos utilizados fueron: la Escala de Autoeficacia General de Baessler y Schwarzer y la Escala de Ansiedad Social para Adolescentes. Se utilizó el software SPSS 24.0. Los principales resultados indican que: 1) el mayor porcentaje de adolescentes presentan alto nivel de autoeficacia y bajos niveles de ansiedad social; 2) la autoeficacia y ansiedad social tienen relación significativamente negativa (inversa); y finalmente, 3) la relación de ambas variables en función del sexo fue negativa tanto en los hombres como en las mujeres adolescentes. Lo que sugiere que en la adolescencia los elevados niveles de autoeficacia se relacionan con bajos niveles de ansiedad social o viceversa.
