dc.description | El término burnout lo utilizó por primera vez el psicólogo norteamericano Herbert Freudenberger en el año 1974, describiéndolo como la sensación de agotamiento o desgaste profesional. Es un estado de fatiga y frustración al que llegan las personas en el cumplimiento de sus labores profesionales. Esta investigación está motivada por la falta de relevancia que tiene el tema en nuestro país. El propósito fue encontrar los rasgos característicos del síndrome en profesionales de la salud y en aportar información para estudios futuros. Para ello se aplicó diferentes instrumentos para la recolección de datos, tales como: cuestionario sociodemográfico y laboral, cuestionario de MBI, cuestionario (GHQ-28), cuestionario BRIEF-COPE, cuestionario de AS, cuestionario EPQR-A. La investigación fue realizada en un hospital privado de la ciudad de Quito. La muestra fue de 10 médicos y 10 enfermeras. Después de analizar los datos obtenidos durante la investigación, se encontraron dos casos de burnout en los médicos participantes, los cuales representan el 20% de la muestra participante. dc.description.abstract | The term “burnout” was used for the first time by the northamerican psychologist Herbert Freudenberger in 1974. He described it as a feeling of exhaustion or professional wear out. Is a state of fatigue and frustration that affects people while working. This investigation is motivated by the lack of relevance of the burnout syndrome in our country. The purpose is to find the syndrome’s main characteristics in the healthcare professionals, and to share this information for future studies. Different measuring instruments were applied to achieve this: sociodemographic questionnaire, MBI questionnaire, (GHQ-28) questionnaire, BRIEF-COPE questionnaire, AS questionnaire, EPQR-A questionnaire. This investigation was made to the healthcare personal of private hospital in Quito city. The sample were 10 doctors and 10 nurses. After analyzing the data collected during the research, two burnout cases were found on the healthcare professionals. This two cases represent a 20% of the total participants of this study.
