Abstract: Access to decent housing is a human right, figures from MIDUVI indicate that 45.9% of Ecuadorian homes require partial or total intervention. The objective is to reduce economic and environmental costs through the research of slabs designed using ferrocement techniques and modular prefabrication to provide a sustainable solution to the mezzanine and roofing of VIS. The research was carried out in the laboratories of the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja. The materials were characterized according to the regulations (INEN). For the design of the ferrocement pre-slabs, the method developed by Prof. Olvera of the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico was applied. Prior to the design, parametric analysis was carried out to establish an efficient cross section. The pre-slabs were subjected to tests of: bending and permeability based on the INEN and NSR-98 regulations. The parabolic cross section was found to be more efficient by requiring less material to support a distributed load. In the conformation of the slab, the prefabricated parabolic is self-supporting, eliminating costs for equipment, labor and time of execution.
