Abstract: The present investigation include the study of the natural edge of the western center, in order redefine it as an articulating element of the city, through urban articulation strategies of intervention at the edges, based on the recognition of the territory, Loja as case of study of Andean intermediate city, through a across a cartographic analysis (from above) allowing to diagnose its physical and define strategies based on its Andean ecology (colinar city) and as the second point, a socio-economic analysis (from below), directing confronting the ways of living, problems, issues and characters of the place. Finally there appears the proposal to define the natural edge in the ecological corridor Shushuhuayco, as a dynamic space of urban and natural relations, an opportunity to strengthen the ecological structure and the environmental system of the city, developing scenes of preservation and environmental conservation, whose function is complement by a network of green corridors created over the urban fabric, developing a natural diversity (fauna and flora), thus strengthening the relationships and natural processes between city - edge - nature.
Description: La presente investigación comprende el estudio del borde natural centro occidental, con el objeto de redefinirlo como un elemento articulador de la ciudad, a través de estrategias de articulación urbanas de intervención en los bordes, fundamentadas en el re-conocimiento del territorio, Loja como caso de estudio de ciudad andina intermedia y su contexto físico, a través de un análisis cartográfico (desde arriba) que permita definir estrategias en base a su ecología andina (ciudad colinar) y como segundo punto, un análisis socio-económico (desde abajo), enfrentando directamente las formas de habitar, problemas, cuestiones y caracteres del lugar. Finalmente, se plantea una propuesta de convertir al borde natural en el Corredor Ecológico Shushuhuayco, como un espacio dinámico de relaciones urbanas y naturales, una oportunidad para fortalecer la estructura ecológica y el sistema ambiental de la ciudad, desarrollando escenarios de preservación y conservación ambiental, cuya función complementada con una malla de corredores verdes creada sobre la trama urbana, desarrollando una diversidad natural (fauna y flora), fortaleciendo de este modo las relaciones y procesos naturales entre ciudad – borde – naturaleza.
