Description: Abstract:The present investigation has like objective analyze the environmental practices of the companies of Ecuador for the year 2015. To verify the hypothesis that the companies of the country do not realize suitable environmental practices, used a synthetic index conformed by two dimensions: behavior and environmental management. In this context, the methodology exposed by Flamand (2005) was used; which consists in standardizing the values of each indicator, using a database of 3736 observations at the national level proposed by the Environmental Module of the Companies for the year 2015; and raised by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INEC). The results obtained verify the fulfillment of the empirical theory affirming that the companies of Ecuador present critical results where the behavioral dimension presents 0.016 and 0.052 management; the synthetic index being 0.034; which maintains that environmental practices by companies in the country are not fully adequate. The importance of the research lies in presenting a contribution to the scarce literature on the subject, specifically for the Ecuadorian case.
