Abstract: The following investigation work has as objective to detect the genes that encode the virulence factors of Escherichia coli ESBL positive cause of urinary tract infections in women who go to the Hospital "Manuel Ygnacio Monteros" during the period March-August 2017. It was recollected a total of 44 strains, of which 42 (95.45%) corresponded to Escherichia coli whose identification was carried out through biochemical tests and sowing in CLED (Cysteine Lactose Electrolyte Deficient) and EMB (Eosin Methylene Blue) media. Subsequently, the production of beta-lactamases was confirmed by the synergy test of double disc, finding 39 (92.86%) ESBL-producing strains. Finally, the amplification of virulence genes was carried out by means of simple PCR, being the most prevalent in; adhesins: papEF (71.79%), siderophores: iutA (89.74%), capsule: kpsMTII (82.05%), toxins: sat (94.87%), miscellaneous: ompT (87.18%). The results indicate that the combination of several genes involved in coding virulence factors of Escherichia coli are determining the pathogenicity of it.
