dc.descriptionEl presente trabajo de investigación pretende identificar el nivel de conocimientos y comportamientos en salud sexual y reproductiva de mujeres jóvenes de zonas rurales del cantón Saraguro. Los resultados demostraron que las edades más prevalentes fueron 17, 19 y 21 años; 44% se encontró soltera y 69% definió su etnia como indígena. El 76% ha recibido información sobre salud sexual, principalmente en centros de salud, escuela/colegio o sus padres; los métodos anticonceptivos más conocidos fueron preservativos y píldoras anticonceptivas; la mayor ventaja considerada de los métodos anticonceptivos fue la prevención de enfermedades de transmisión sexual. El 68% ha iniciado su vida sexual entre los 14-17 años de edad, principalmente por sentimientos hacia su pareja (57%), la mayoría ha tenido 1-2 parejas sexuales, 61% no usó método anticonceptivo en su primera relación sexual y 96% estuvo de acuerdo con el uso de métodos anticonceptivos. En conclusión, las mujeres jóvenes presentan niveles aceptables de conocimientos en salud sexual y reproductiva, sin embargo, no es suficiente para evitar que inicien su vida sexual tempranamente o usen métodos anticonceptivos al iniciar su vida sexual.es_ES
dc.description.abstractThis research aims to identify the level of knowledge and behaviors in sexual and reproductive health of young women in rural areas of Saraguro. The results showed that the most prevalent ages were 17, 19 and 21 years; 44% were single and 69% defined their ethnic group as indigenous. 76% have received information about sexual health, mainly in health centers, school/college or their parents; the most known contraceptive methods were condoms and birth control pills; the major advantage of contraception was the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases. 68% have started their sex life between 14-17 years old, mainly because of feelings towards their partner (57%), most have had 1-2 sexual partners, 61% did not use contraception in their first sexual relationship and 96% agreed with the use of contraceptive methods. In conclusion, young women have acceptable levels of knowledge in sexual and reproductive health; however, it is not enough to prevent them from initiating their sexual life early or using contraceptive methods when initiating their sexual life.es_ES
