Description: study of the flora of the backyards of suburban neighborhoods of northeast basin of Loja, in order to gather information on diversity, uses and cultural importance of the species was performed. It was estimated index of cultural significance (IC) and the informant consensus factor (FIC). The numbers of plants mentioned are also analyzed according to age and education of the informants. 80 interviews were conducted with elderly to 14 years. Of each species was recorded: common name, use and habit. Information 173 species corresponding to 57 families in 5 uses was collected. In general it can be mentioned that there are high FIC values for all categories of use (greater than 0.60 each) indicating an agreement among informants regarding knowledge of plants used in the different categories. The study found that in the study area maintain a wide variety of plants. However, cultural and biological factors threaten the survival of plants in the area
Se realizó un estudio de la flora de los traspatios de los barrios suburbanos del noreste de la hoya de Loja, con el objetivo de recopilar información sobre la diversidad, usos e importancia cultural de las especies. Se calculó de índice de importancia cultural (IC) y el Factor de consenso de informantes (FIC). También se analiza el número de plantas citadas según edad y formación de los informantes. Se realizaron 80 entrevistas a personas mayores a 14 años. De cada especie se registró: nombre común, uso y hábito. Se recopiló información de 173 especies, correspondientes a 57 familias distribuidas en 5 usos. De manera general se puede mencionar que existen valores altos de FIC para todas las categorías de uso (mayores a 0,60 cada una) que indican un acuerdo entre los informantes respecto a los conocimientos de las plantas utilizadas en las diferentes categorías. El estudio reveló que en el área de estudio mantienen una gran diversidad de plantas. Sin embargo, los factores culturales y biológicos amenazan la supervivencia de plantas en la zona
