Abstract: Environmental degradation is a worldwide problem; being productive, extractive and consumer activity of society an important factor for the tort environment, but over time have come to reconsider and to consider that living in an environment healthy is one of the most important needs of society. "The relationship between pollutant emissions, energy consumption and economic growth for Ecuador in the period 1971 - 2010", seeks to ascertain whether the emissions are the result of the interference of economic growth and energy consumption in Ecuador. For this purpose time series econometrics them involving testing stationarity, autoregressive vectors (VAR) and Johansen cointegration applied. The results led to the conclusion that there is a monotonically increasing linear relationship, which states that GDP is associated with rising levels of CO2 emissions in the long term; however with respect to energy consumption (EC) is an inverse relationship in the long run it was found, it is noteworthy that this variable is not statistically significant for the model
