| Abstract: | The conservation system in Quilanga canton aims to develop a proposal of conservation at a landscape scale, that also incorporates the World Heritage Natural Areas of the State, protected forests and areas of the Forest Partner Program, other areas with conservation purposes are private, community or municipal. It also seeks to identify potential areas to be established as protected areas. It was possible to identify two areas of Forest and Vegetation Protection (ABVP) that canton Quilanga includes. Protective Forest in Colombo Yacuri Quilanga territory covers an area of 1570 ha, with 6.6% of the territory and Protected Forest Ingenio Santa Rosa with 7318 ha, representing 30.92% of the territory, Quilanga canton has not SNAP areas, considering the Socio Bosque areas they occupy an area of 102, 77 ha with 0.43% of the territory. Analyzing it came to identify and delineate two new areas which are important to preserve for their natural characteristics, these areas are located at the upper limit of ABVP Ingenio Santa Rosa with an area of 1203, 94 ha and the second located at the lower limit of ABVP Colambo-Yacuri with an area of 272.02 ha |
| Description: | El Sistema de conservación en el cantón Quilanga pretende desarrollar una propuesta de conservación a escala de paisaje que incorpore además de las áreas del Patrimonio de Áreas Naturales del Estado, los bosques protectores y áreas del Programa Socio Bosque, otras áreas que tengan fines de conservación sean estas privadas, comunitarias o municipales. Se busca además identificar áreas potenciales de ser establecidas como áreas protegidas. Se pudieron identificar dos áreas de Bosque y Vegetación Protectora (ABVP) con las que cuenta el cantón Quilanga: el Bosque Protector Colombo- Yacuri que en territorio de Quilanga tiene una superficie de 1570 ha., con el 6,6 % del territorio y el Bosque Protector Ingenio-Santa Rosa con 7318 ha, que representan el 30,92 % del territorio, el cantón Quilanga no cuenta con áreas del SNAP, en lo que se refiere a las áreas Socio Bosque estas ocupan una extensión de 102, 77 ha con el 0,43 % del territorio. Realizado el respectivo análisis se llegó a identificar y delimitar dos nuevas áreas las cuales son importantes de conservar debido a sus características naturales, estas áreas se encuentran localizadas en el límite superior del ABVP Ingenio Santa Rosa esta con una extensión de 1203, 94 ha y la segunda localizada en el límite inferior del ABVP Colambo-Yacuri con una extensión de 272.02 ha. |
