Historia de la comunicación en la ciudad de Guayaquil durante el período 1895 hasta 1912 Liberalismo Radical

Abstract

This investigation expect to contribute to the project of History of Communication of Ecuador. This chapter consist of the history of Guayaquil city during the period 1859-1912 that was at a critical moment where important changes were being developed which would change the country’s history. It is important to stand out the liberal and plutocratic era which determined in a big proportion the life and development of current Ecuadorian society. While it is true the liberals had a hard fighting until get the power, inside that group there were disagreements, especially regarding the economical power, there were liberals that looked for self-benefits when the real liberal fight searched for everybody’s equality regardless social class, religion or ethnicity. The fight for the power not only was through wars, but also in the print media, whith the creation and speed disappearance of newspapers, weeklies or biweeklies that were created to support the candidacies of those who wanted to take the power in the case of Eloy Alfaro, Leonidas Plaza Gutiérrez or Flavio Alfaro. In the long run, the fight for the power begins from anywhere and the finality is that people give or not the supporting to some candidate to be able of run or implement what a person believes is suitable for the whole citizenship.
