Abstract

Abstract:The present investigation, "The analysis of associated psychosocial variables towards mental health and substance consumption among students in Ecuador 2015" has as its purpose to analyze the distribution of psychosocial variables associated with the substances consumption and mental heath in fifty-one male and female teenagers from first and second grade of high school in Zone 1, District 04D01, Circuit 04D01003, Ecuador 2015, between the ages of fourteen and seventeen years old. The investigation was descriptive, statistical and transversal by using the survey technique, whose instruments allowed measuring the following variables: stress perception (PSS-14), psychologic flexibility (AAQ-7), alcohol consumption (AUDIT), other drugs (ASSIST), personality, sense of loneliness (UCLA), resilence (BRS), depression anxiety (PHQ-9) and vital satisfaction (LSQ). The analysis determined the studied variables as predictors of mental health, expect personality, resilience and sense of loneliness, identified as risk varibles associated to low substance consumption with a greater influence on male students. In conclusion, the investigated students presented to have a good mental health condition, which is related to a low consumption of alcohol and other substances.
