The influence of large classes on the English language teaching-learning process in Ecuadorian high schools

Abstract

The theme of presentetrabajoes "The influence of large classes in the language teaching-learning Inglés process in Ecuadorian high schools". This project was developed to analyze and while answering questions directly related to instructional, social and psychological implications of the many classes in the educational, social and psychological aspect in the process of teaching and learning English. Participants used in this research project were taken from an Ecuadorian school, the same one that is located in the canton Zaruma in the province of El Oro. The samples were students attending the ninth and tenth year of basic general education. Students were surveyed through the use of a questionnaire consisting of 21 questions divided into three sections related to certain issues: 5, social psychological items 7 and 9 educational. The information collected was tabulated, analyzed and presented in tables. The results obtained in this study lead us to conclude that students in large classes benefited from the use of certain activities that were aimed at, and reinforce lessons taught. However, due to the size of classes, students are restricted to develop more complex activities such as debates, competitions, etc., which may have contributed to better development of their language skills cuatreo felt.
