Abstract

Abstract: This research analyzes the social and health diagnosis on seniors living at Atucucho neighborhood, during 2014. The design used was observational descriptive, running 229 polls from the elderly in total, with individual informed consent. The results in terms of social and economic diagnosis are: they have a high level of illiteracy, mostly engaged in manual activities, their only income that they have is the "Bono de Desarrollo Humano", a government subvention that not cover basic needs, which are covered by their children. All homes are unfinished and have all the basic services, and there is no effective proprietorship of homes, neither of the land, in 50% of the cases. As for the diagnosis of health, seniors suffer diseases that are prevalent in the country; permanent pain in the extremities and head. The visual, auditory and oral health is in poor condition in most of the seniors. They are protected by their families whom even buy their drugs. Finally it is clear that all seniors in the neighborhood of Atucucho agree with the opening of a permanent university medical center.
