Abstract: the management of patients were studied with musculoskeletal trauma treated in the Emergency Hospital U.T.P.L. during January 2012 - December 2013, by analyzing medical records in order to assess compliance with the ATLS standards. 153 individuals were analyzed. Handling was mainly clinical (76% of cases) followed by clinical + surgical (24%). 97% was not handled according to ATLS standards, 3% (5 cases) did. Only one case (1%) ATLS management, developed hypovolemic shock. Among handled ATLS none had complications from the trauma. The management of patients mostly was not according to the ATLS rather direct attention was made the injury site, which can be linked to the emerging handling HUTPL is done by doctors untrained ATLS, or perhaps for lack of registration application in the clinical history, since there were few complications, occurrence associated with the application of ATLS; noting that the only complication was when the ATLS was not applied
Description: Se estudió el manejo de los pacientes con traumatismo musculoesquelético atendidos en el servicio de Emergencia del Hospital U.T.P.L. durante enero 2012 – diciembre 2013, mediante el análisis de las historias clínicas con la finalidad de evaluar el cumplimiento de las normas ATLS. Se analizaron 153 individuos. Su manejo fue principalmente clínico (76% de los casos) seguido por clínico + quirúrgico (24%). El 97% no se manejó según las normas ATLS, el 3% (5 casos) sí lo hizo. Solo 1 caso (1%) sin manejo ATLS, desarrolló shock hipovolémico. Entre los manejados con ATLS ninguno presentó complicación por el trauma. El manejo de los pacientes mayoritariamente no fue según el ATLS, más bien se realizó atención directa del sitio de lesión, que puede vincularse a que el manejo emergente en HUTPL lo realizan médicos sin formación ATLS, o quizá, por falta de registro de su aplicación en la historia clínicas, pues hubo bajo número de complicaciones, hecho vinculado con la aplicación del ATLS; destacando que la única complicación fue cuando no se aplicó el ATLS
