Caracterización de arcillas naturales en el cantón Gonzanamá y sus usos potenciales en la tecnología

Abstract

The present work was carried out in the province of Loja to the south of Ecuador in Gonzanama, aiming the characterization of natural clays through field sampling, lithostratigraphic and petrographic description, to later analyze the mineral components and the nonmetallic elements of The Gonzanama basin. The execution of this work produced a detailed geological map identifying the different lithologies existing in the area, besides chemical, physical and mechanical tests of the different samples collected A total of sixty - two samples were collected, which were classified according to the type of rock that corresponded with the purpose of knowing its chemical composition by X - ray fluorescence. Twenty samples were analyzed by X - ray diffraction to characterize the minerals of clays in them, obtaining considerable amounts of kaolinite and illite.
