Evaluación del manejo de trauma craneal y raquimedular en pacientes adultos en el periodo comprendido entre enero 2012 a febrero 2013 en el Hospital de la UTPL.

Abstract

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) and spinal cord (TSC), are common hospitalary lesions, and their management applying the protocol Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS). The objective is to know the management of patients with traumatic brain injury and spinal cord trauma by analysis of medical records, the implementation of the ATLS protocol in the UTPL Hospital in the period from January 2012 to February 2013. It is a descriptive, retrospective and transversal approach study. 23 patients were included who come up to emergency of UTPL Hospital with definitive diagnosis of TCE and TRM in the period January 2012 to February 2013, patients who carry out the inclusion and exclusion criteria in the study were chosen. The ATLS protocol was applied in 17.39%, to 73.91% of patients were not applied the protocol. The definitive management of TBI was clinical in a 95.65% of patients. The 26.09% of patients come up with complications after the TBI. Patients admitted to the service of Emergency in the UTPL Hospital, ATLS protocol was not totally applied.
