Percepción y opinión de los ecuatorianos sobre la realidad socio-ambiental nacional: Análisis de la cabecera cantonal de Azogues, Provincia del Cañar

Abstract

Abstract: The present research work has as objective to know the perception and opinion that the woodchips have about the socio-environmental reality of the canton, including the themes of environment, water, markets, quality of life, citizen participation, and gender equity. In order to fulfill the purpose of this research, 382 questionnaires were applied to citizens belonging to the canton of Azogues. The results suggest that the majority of the forest population knows biodiversity and considers it very important to protect the environment. In the water theme, respondents say that the quality of this resource has been maintained over the last ten years, while, with regard to markets, most do not feel secure about the products they consume cause less impact on the environment. On the other hand, for most respondents, the most worrying problem is insecurity, followed by public transport and air pollution. In terms of citizen participation, most respondents are unaware of this issue. Finally, with respect to equity in particular on gender equality, the majority of respondents perceive existence in gender inequality.
