Description: The following investigation is based on the topic “The use of supplementary materials for teaching children in EFL classes” where the main goal is to determine and analyze the type of supporting materials used for teaching children in EFL classes. The investigation was developed in Quito – Ecuador, taking a small sample of fourth, fifth, and sixth grades classes of elementary education with a population of 20 students per grade. The materials taken into account to check how supplementary materials are used in class were visual, audio, audiovisual, realia, and on-line ones. It was also necessary to observe ten sessions in the three grades. In order to interpret the results obtained after the process, the qualitative and quantitative methods were applied. The former was required to describe the way materials were used in the classes in relation to their appropriateness, quality and pertinence. After the results were analyzed and interpreted, the most significant information obtained from the process was that English teachers used handouts, whiteboard, and flashcards as their main supplementary materials in the class with an average appropriateness, quality and pertinence.
