Desempeño financiero, social y ambiental de las grandes empresas ecuatorianas de los sectores de agricultura, minería y petróleo, periodo 2015-2019

Abstract

Abstract: Society has evolved andnowadays, organizations should not only be concerned about financial aspects, but should also take into account social and environmental aspects to reduce their impact on the environment and improve their relationship with stakeholders. This is why the objective of this research was to analyze the financial, social and environmental performance of large Ecuadorian companies in the agriculture, mining and oil sectors in the period 2015-2019. The study was descriptive with a quantitative approach. The information was extracted from the sustainability reports and financial statements of 6 large Ecuadorian companies belonging to the mining, agricultural and oil sectors. The results obtained showed that companies in the oil sector had on average better financialperformance and presented more social and environmental aspects in their sustainability reports than the mining and agricultural sectors. It was concluded that large Ecuadorian companies in these three sectors still have a lot of room for improvement, especially in social and environmental aspects.
