Propuesta de mejoras de bajo costo en la seguridad vial de la carretera rural Chambo-Puculpala-Cubijies, en la provincia de Chimborazo, utilizando el método iRAP

Abstract

Abstract: The iRAP methodology is a procedure to qualify the road safety offered by a section of road. Despite these benefits, very little has been used in the country. Therefore, the objective of this thesis is to propose low-cost improvements in road safety on the Chambo-Puculpala-Cubijies rural highway, in the province of Chimborazo, using the iRAP method, for which 200 stations were analyzed within the road. Data collection was carried out through a photographic survey of the road every 100 meters, field measurements, georeferenced location, and web computational tools such as ViDA software. To determine the number of stars, the data was processed, obtaining a rating of 1 star in most of the sections. Through the hypothetical deductive method, the main problem was discovered and low-cost changes were proposed that will guarantee a better rating for the road. Finally, the road improvement proposals for each section were analyzed, such as lighting, improving the condition of the road, adequate signage and protective metal barriers, being those of low cost that allow the road rating to be raised.
