Buscapina (Lippia dulcis Trevir.), usos en medicina tradicional

Abstract

Abstract: The present investigation describes ethnobotanical information on the traditional use of the species Lippia dulcis Trevir., known as buscapina in the city of Loja, the results on the ethnomedicinal uses and the form of preparation of the species have been obtained through an applied survey to a group of 65 people knowledgeable about natural medicine, among which are the vendors of medicinal plants. With the information of the interviewees, the TRAMIL Significant Use Level Index (UST) was determined, which allowed demonstrating the importance or cultural value that the Buscapina species has to treat stomach ailments with a percentage of 47.69%. Regarding the form of preparation, the infusion predominated (64.62%) and regarding the part of the plant used, the majority of those surveyed (75.38%) indicated that the entire plant is used.
