Identificación de problemas socio-ambientales en la parroquia Santiago, del cantón Loja-2022

Abstract

Abstract: The environmental situation in the world is becoming more alarming and worrisome every day, however, identifying the existing socio-environmental problems is a small but sure step in the search for a solution. Objective: To identify the main socio-environmental problems in the Santiago parish, in the Loja canton. Method: A descriptive, quantitative study was carried out, where a structured survey was applied. Results: 29.41% of the respondents are between 28 and 37 years old; 53.27% are men; 58.82% are of mestizo ethnicity; 49.25% have high school education. 38.56% of the population of Santiago identified the existence of socio-environmental problems, with water being the most affected resource, with 71.19%. The anthropic activity thatmainly affects this resource is contamination by garbage with 73.81%, with the inhabitants themselves being the responsible and affected actors. Therefore, it was proposed as an environmental strategy proposal to develop an "Comprehensive solid waste management plan in the Santiago parish, in the Loja canton". Conclusion: In the Santiago parish there are socio-environmental problems that predominantly affect the water resource.
