Impacto de la pandemia COVID-19 en el desempeño financiero de las empresas turísticas, de transporte y comercio de la provincia de Santa Elena, Ecuador

Abstract

Abstract: This research studies the financial performance of tourism, transport and trade companies foundin the province of Santa Elena, Ecuador, seeingthe impact caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, given the measures taken by the government and shareholders for the determined period. The methodused is of a descriptive level, since it sought to describe the reality of the phenomenon caused and its effects on the financial performance of companies in the province of Santa Elena, Ecuador in the year 2020. According to the Superintendence of Securities and Insurance Companies, there is a total of 199 companies from the tourism, transport and trade sectors, in this study 71 companies that presented financial statements consecutively in the years 2017 to 2020 are considered. The results presented a negative impact on the growth in sales of the companies. commerce and transport companies, however, tourism companies had a small growth in their sales compared to the years 2017 to 2019.
