dc.description	Resumen: El presente estudio permitió identificar las plantas medicinales utilizadas por los habitantes del cantón Portovelo para el tratamiento del Covid 19. Se aplicó una entrevista semiestructurada bajo consentimiento libre e informado. Se aplicó un análisis etnobotánico y estadístico para determinar el consenso entre las plantas y usos reportados. Se registró 5 especies, 5 familias botánicas. Existe un efecto significativo sobre la cantidad de plantas usadas en las áreas rurales, siendo Plantago major L., Cestrum sendtnerianum Mart. y Pelargonium graveolens L Hér. ex Aiton las más utilizadas FL=100%, mientras que Thymus vulgaris L. y Eucalyptus globulus Labill., con un grado de consenso intermedio; empleadas para el dolor de garganta, gripe y resfriados. Se evidencio un alto consenso entre los informantes para todos los usos reportados (FIC=0,99 a 1,00) para todas las especies reportadas. En los centros de salud no se utilizan plantas medicinales, se opta por la medicina occidental, sin embargo, las prácticas documentadas del cantón Portovelo pueden contribuir al desarrollo de nuevos fármacos locales con el apoyo investigativo correspondiente, para que los remedios herbales de alguna manera logren estandarizarse científicamente.	es_ES
dc.description.abstract	Abstract: The present study made it possible to identify the medicinal plants used by the inhabitants of the Portovelo canton for the treatment of Covid 19. A semi-structured interview was conducted under free and informed consent. An ethnobotanical and statistical analysis was applied to determine the consensus among the reported plants and uses. Five species, five botanical families were recorded. There is a significant effect on the number of plants used in rural areas, being Plantago major L., Cestrum sendtnerianum Mart. and Pelargonium graveolens L'Hér. ex Aiton the most used FL=100%, while Thymus vulgaris L. and Eucalyptus globulus Labill. with an intermediate degree of consensus, used for sore throat, flu and colds. There was a high consensus among informants for all reported uses (FIC=0.99 to 1.00) for all reported species. However, the documented practices of the Portovelo canton can contribute to the development of new local drugs with the corresponding research support, so that herbal remedies can somehow become scientifically standardized.	es_ES
