Abstract

Abstract: The present research work reviews the collective water rights that the communal territory of "La Esperanza" of the Tulcán canton, in the Province of Carchi, possesses and analyzes the socio-environmental conflicts that in this case study are developed with respect to community management. of water resources, a collective right that has been violated on several occasions, through Participatory Action Research, using social cartography as a tool with a small group of community members, who held a workshop as an exercise of empowerment and identity with their territory, from where possible solutions to several of the conflicts were obtained and on the other hand it was possible to contrast the results with satellite images to show the change in the vegetation cover, later a spatial information mechanism was developed for the commune, in which they can interact and report real information about the place they inhabit. It is concluded that social cartography constitutes a reality search tool in communities, which could be a contribution to rethink, revalue and plan a territory based on their needs.
