Diseño de un plan de acción para el fortalecimiento del turismo rural con enfoque en la cadena de valor en género para el cantón Santa Cruz Islas Galápagos 2022

Abstract

Abstract: The objective of this research was to propose strategies for the development of rural tourism in the canton of Santa Cruz - Galapagos Islands where there is a context to benefit the empowerment of women. The methodology was of an ethnographic, descriptive type, with a qualitative approach, having as a population the actors linked to tourism on the island. The sample of subjects was for convenience with eight interviewees, three from the public sector and five from the private sector. The results showed that there is a deficiency in the promotion, development of rural tourism and the visibility of women as an important actor in their involvement in the value chain, despite the fact that their work is recognized. A strategic action plan was suggest with responsible activities and a budget that entails its implementation guidelines that contribute to Objective 5 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) agenda. It is conclude that island rural tourism should be promote with the active participation of women in services and present it as a unique scenario and complementary to conventional tourism.
