Revisión narrativa sobre la obesidad infantil y su relación con el síndrome metabólico

Abstract

Abstract: Childhood obesity has become, according to the World Health Organization, an epidemic that has serious consequences on the health of individuals who suffer from it, considering that most of them can develop metabolic syndrome and pathologies in adulthood. In this way, the present bibliographic review study, considering the importance of the subject, proposes to identify scientific evidence, through a review of the literature, on childhood obesity and its relationship with metabolic syndrome in the American continent. To do this, a compilation of updated information was carried out considering twelve scientific articles from the last five years found on different scientific platforms such as PubMed, SciElo, LILIACS and VHL. The analysis revealed that childhood obesity is indeed related to many cardiometabolic risk factors, as well as lack of physical exercise, poor eating habits, socioeconomic status, educational level, and the sex of the individuals studied.
