Abstract

Abstract: This study focused on analyzing the academic preferences of graduates from the Law program and their relationship with the Sustainable Development Goals through the examination of legal judgments. The primary subject of investigation was Human Rights and its connection to the SDG on Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. To achieve this, the case of Guachalá Chimbó and others vs. Ecuador, as issued by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, was examined. This judgment underscored the recognition of legal personality, the right to life, personal integrity, personal freedom, human dignity, privacy, access to information, equality before the law, and health, as well as the right to an effective remedy, judicial guarantees, and legal protection. It had a significant impact on raising awareness about the rights of individuals with disabilities in Ecuador and addressed the inefficiencies within the healthcare system. Furthermore, it established the state's responsibility towards its citizens, through its punitive powers, the judicial system, and those responsible for administering justice.
