Propuesta de plan de gestión integral para los residuos sólidos generados en la ciudad de Portovelo

Abstract

Abstract: Comprehensive waste management constitutes one of the environmental challenges faced by the humanity. In Latin America, management is deficient since sites of final disposal in which they are stored indiscriminately and with an incipient industry and recycling practices. In this work, the waste management carried out in the city of Portovelo was evaluated. identifying key aspects to improve it. In addition, a sampling program was carried out and characterization through which it was determined that the per capita generation rate is 0.72 kg/Inhabitant*day, of which 85% is organic matter, followed by 8.8% plastics, 2.1% glass, 2.1% cardboard, 1% textile, 0.6 metal and 0.5% rubber. Based on these results and the evaluation of current management, a management plan is proposed. composed of four programs: 1) Training, awareness and environmental education, 2) Segregation and use of organic waste, 3) Segregation and use of inorganic waste and 4) Implementation of the plan. Each one aimed at reducing the environmental impacts.
