Cambio en la cobertura y uso de suelo en un área de bosque seco de la provincia de Santa Elena para el período 2018 2022

Abstract

Abstract: The dry forest is a unique and highly vulnerable ecosystem, characterized by conditions arid climates and biodiversity adapted to these conditions. The main objective of study is to analyze the transformations that occurred in the coverage and use of land during the study period 2018 and 2022, identify the factors that have driven these changes and evaluate its implications for the conservation and sustainability of the forest ecosystem dry. The methodology used combines remote sensing techniques and information systems (GIS) to analyze satellite images and obtain quantitative data on the land cover and use for two different years. The results show a worrying trend of loss of forest cover and a increase in land conversion for agricultural activities, urbanization and other uses humans. These changes could be related to factors such as growth demographic, the expansion of the agricultural frontier and the lack of adequate planning for the dry forest conservation.
