Estrategias de conservación comunitaria en la Reserva Ecológica El Ángel, provincia del Carchi

Abstract

Abstract: The present research was carried out in the El Ángel Ecological Reserve (REEA), an area protected area that is part of the National System of Protected Areas in Ecuador (SNAP), where its conservation values ​​are threatened by the advance of the border agricultural, bad agricultural practices, opening of quarries, road maintenance, tourism uncontrolled, illegal hunting and fishing (Ministry of the Environment, 2015). However, there is a organized group of people who develop community conservation strategies with the purpose of reducing environmental damage. This is why the main objective of this research was to investigate the main community conservation strategies in the La Esperanza commune and its contribution to state efforts, among which are: the Socio Bosque Program, FONA project, control and surveillance tours of the ecosystems, environmental education, afforestation and reforestation, and source protection of water. Among them, the Socio Bosque Program and the FONA project stand out, because Economic incentives are provided in exchange for the conservation of ecosystems. The actions in favor of conservation carried out by the La Esperanza Commune are a great contribution to state efforts because they have a fundamental basis in the programs management stipulated by the authorities of the El Ángel Ecological Reserve under guidelines of the Ministry of the Environment, Water and Ecological Transition, since they have contributed significantly efficient in reducing the rate of degradation and loss of biodiversity.
