Percepciones populares y culturales sobre los anfibios y reptiles del cantón Catamayo

Abstract

Abstract: Ethnoherpetological studies contribute to the understanding of the dynamics that exist between amphibians and reptiles with humans, and therefore helps the planning and development of strategies for its management, use and conservation in communities from the socioeconomic and cultural context. The present study analyzed and compared general knowledge and cultural conception that the inhabitants of Catamayo have about herpetofauna, the same It consisted of conducting a survey of 30 key actors in the study area. The respondents presented having general knowledge about reptiles and amphibians, not necessarily acquired in the classrooms, but rather in the interaction they have had with people close, they also admit that, despite the negative connotations, they have been able to give it a positive use of these groups, mostly in the medicinal part and are interested in their conservation. These types of studies can be a reference to know the status of conservation of local herpetofauna, as well as the cultural perception of the populations humans in relation to vertebrates such as amphibians and reptiles.
