COVID-19 en la recuperación económica urbana en la resiliencia de la ciudad de Loja (Ecuador)

Abstract

Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic is a recent historical milestone due to its global reach and the pernicious impact it had on society. The pandemic meant a gigantic challenge to be faced by countries, cities, and people, which tested the ability of social structures to resist the adverse effects of the health contingency to continue functioning. The present investigation evaluates the socioeconomic resilience of the urban territory of the city of Loja during the pandemic. Through a qualitative analysis and using information from secondary sources, it was possible to assess the social, economic, technological, and institutional resilience of the city. Loja was found to be resilient to the scourge of COVID-19, despite the deficiencies and limitations that made it difficult for the city to face the pandemic, in addition, changes occurred during the early recovery period that should be considered when planning the development of the future city, and the collaboration of different socioeconomic actors should be encouraged to allow the city to improve its resilience to calamities of similar magnitude.
