Abstract

Abstract: This research analyzes the relationship between legal education and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (2015), focusing on the academic preferences of Law graduates from UTPL and their connection to SDG 16, which promotes peace, justice, and strong institutions. It is based on an exhaustive analysis of Judgment No. 264-22-EP/22, issued by the Constitutional Court of Ecuador on December 19, 2022 (2022), related to a case of hit and-run and death. Through the study of this judgment and the competencies acquired by students in Criminal Law, areas of interest and professional projections of future lawyers were identified. The objectives of this research have been achieved through a rigorous methodology that combines theoretical approaches, qualitative and quantitative research methods, and specific techniques for analyzing judgments. The results highlight the importance of integrating multidisciplinary competencies to address current legal and social challenges, emphasizing the need for education that combines theory and practice with a global and sustainable perspective.
