Abstract

Abstract: The Pitahaya (Hylocereus undatus) is an exotic fruit, which in recent years has stood out in the economy of Ecuador, and which is currently becoming popular due to the profitability it promotes and the compatibility of its planting with existing crop fields. in the country, therefore this research sought to analyze the agro-productive value chain of the cultivation of pitahaya (Hylocereus undatus), to identify the opportunities and challenges for the sustainability and competitiveness of the company Frutas Exóticas del Pacífico FRUTAPAC S.A., a from the characterization of crop management practices. This research was descriptive in nature using a mixed method, which will use data analysis, field study, bibliographic review, and statistical representation. It seeks to provide producers, traders, and other participants in the value chain with crucial information for making informed decisions and formulating strategies aimed at ensuring the future of pitahaya production in a context characterized by its dynamism. This approach will not only contribute to the sustainable growth of this industry, since its results and recommendations will significantly impact the strategic decisions of other actors involved in the pitahaya value chain in Manabí and in nearby regions. This study will enrich the understanding of the industry in Manabí and offer valuable lessons and recommendations that can be applied to other crops and agricultural sectors in the region and globally.
