Abstract

Abstract: The Objective of (SDG) number 16, focuses on promoting peaceful and just societies through respect for human rights, the rule of law and good governance, the specific advances and challenges related to the implementation of SDG 16 in Latin America are analyzed, considering the existing international commitments, highlights the legal and political duality of this objective, which focuses on fundamental aspects such as peace, institutional effectiveness, deeper and a horizontal coordination to achieve these objectives, emphasizes the slogan "leave no one behind" and the need to create a enabling environment that allows these objectives to be achieved in contexts where there are social tensions and political crises, SDG 16 of the United Nations is part of a series of ambitious Sustainable Development Goals, and its analysis includes both detailed descriptions and an analytical approach that highlights the importance of combining elements of security, peace, the (UN) as a pioneering initiative in the regulation of international relations, despite having faced significant challenges during the Cold War.
